William Paterson University is first and foremost a community of learning.  Our 380-acre wooded campus is just 20 miles west of New York City and offers both diverse and challenging academic programs.  In transforming ourselves over the last several years into a thriving residential university with five colleges and 10,000 students, we have strengthened our commitment to excellence in all areas of academic life.  The University offers 87 undergraduate and graduate degree programs through its five colleges: The AACSB accredited College of Business, Arts and Communication, Education, Humanities and Social Sciences, and Science and Health.  Pre-professional programs are available in law and medicine.  Small class sizes, extensive educational offerings, easy access to and regular interaction with our distinguished faculty are just some of the distinguishing features of the academic environment.

Understanding the many options available for financial assistance can be difficult.  We're here to help you.  Financial Aid is available through many federal and state grants, scholarships and work-study programs. Both the University and the Alumni Association award competitive scholarships based on academic merit to entering first-year students as well as transfers.  The Office of Financial Aid will help you and your parents complete FAFSA forms and advises students on available financial resources.​
